So, you have the familiar trio of Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Jordana Brewster pulling off a train heist to begin with. But this time they are in Rio de Janeiro and stealing from the man who practically runs it! And there is an American Bulldog (Dwyane Johnson) behind them.
If I recap the film it would be something like this. A stupendously rousing starting action sequence, some dumb followup, short pants closeup, an inane but explosive action sequence, bikini closeup, a foolish plan, some very fortunate coincidences, some unfortunate ones, sexual innuendos, and mind-numbingly dumb but visually spectacular final action sequence. In the end every knot is neatly tied up with some more brain-dead explanations.
Performances by the leading 3 is decent, while Dwayne Johnson simply spits fire and barks. Sound-effects and background score keeps up the pace. But the story and screenplay have gaping loopholes and the momentum fluctuates between top gear and neutral frequently! You desperately look forward to the next action sequence, because in between it's all crap.
It completely lives up to the genre of cinema made famous by the likes of Steven Seigal. But, I must say it is much better than the Fast 4. Action lovers do catch this film on the big screen for its explosive action sequences, but do not expect much sense, or do not start asking questions or finding logic in all this, because nothing else matters.
Rating : 5 / 10 ( Bcos it delivers exactly what it promises! )
