What makes this movie a One Place Wonder is - even though the Hero is stuck between a Rock and a Hardplace, Simon Beaufoy and Danny Boyle write an amazing screenplay. The film starts off at frenetic pace, with the protagonist riding into the Canyon, until his hand gets stuck under a boulder at a place, miles away from civilization. And then starts the Clock , the 127 hour ordeal of the Hero being stuck at one place with just a little bit of water, a rope, a blunt knife, a camera and a few other things ! Nobody knows where he is and nobody having a chance of finding him out before he wears out.
Brilliant Screenplay, awesome camerawork, engaging music and a power packed performance by the Oscar nominated James Franco. James brings out the frustration, anger, delirium and fighting spirit with aplomb and you root for him all the way.
Be ready for some gore, but you can't afford to miss this one. Watch an Oscar Nominated performance for sure! Go, Get Boyled !
Rating : 8 / 10 - And yeah Rehman - Best of Luck :)
But does it work? Oh Hell Yeah ! Brilliant screenplay again, amazing camerawork and again, an awesome performance by the lead man. A benchmark of minimalistic thriller, this movie is about a truck driver stuck in a coffin in Iraq, trying to save his life. Does he make it? Who is this guy? Why is he put there? Whats happening? All this is unravelled only through mobile conversations.
Yes, some scenes do make you shift in your seat (could have been a little shorter) , but this is a must see film. Definitely for the unique plot and the power of minimalistic cinema., coz you are engaged through most of the movie even though you cannot see beyond 2 feet !
