Bodyguard is a horrendous film and nothing less. It's extremely regressive in all respects. On the day when Anurag Kashyup helps us move one step ahead in storytelling, Siddique and Salman take us several years in the past. When was the last time you saw a film's humour completely based on "Fat guys and dwarfs"? Siddique also throws in some Gay humour and blatantly cheap dialogues, just to complete the package of regression.
What is this film all about? It's about a Bodyguard sent to protect a rich man's daughter's life. He follows her everywhere, makes her exercise at ungodly hours and embarrasses her most times. She in turn gets back at him in the most inane way possible and then falls in love with him for saving her life (which is, by the freaking way, his duty !!!). He walks like a Robot, looks like a Robot, acts like a Robot, but she nonetheless falls head over heels for him. After all love knows no reason, specially for dumbos! And then there is the twist, that almost makes you puke. I would go so far as to say that the last 15 minutes of the film is so LAME, that if Paris Hilton could understand Hindi, she would build a store just to commemorate it!
The story, screenplay and dialogues - pathetic, the direction - average, the action sequences - outrageous, songs - tolerable, Kareena kapoor - intolerable, Salman - plastic, the comedy - Bloody WTF !!! In short, just when we find hope in Indian cinema, comes a film that threatens to take it back to the 80s. It's sad that these regressive films have such a strong backing and mass appeal.
Please save yourself from the misery of the suffering this film inflicts on its audience. Please stop, cause you might just kill someone out of frustration. Please stop yourself from going Oh ! Bloody ...GAWDD!
