The story at hand is amazing. A musician with tremendous talent, throwing it all away to bad lifestyle. When this musician loses his most precious SENSE, he loses his mind. And in that dark time, he finds his way back and overcomes his disability.
But sometimes powerful stuff should be given to people who can handle it. And unfortunately director Neerav Ghosh squanders a beautiful opportunity. The treatment of pivotal scenes are extremely amateurish. The acting by the extras and most of the crew is atrocious ( especially Mohan Kapoor). Some scenes are handled so badly, that I was wondering who gave Neerav the money to make this film. But then I realised that budget would have also been a very big constraint. Many compromises seem to have been made and hence the madness is lost.
Rajeev Khandelwal is average. He handles some scenes easily, but his dialogue delivery needs improvement and he needs to get some method acting training for sure. When the movie delves into the DARK side of the musicians life ( sex, booze and drugs) the director falters big time. Even Rajeev does not have the acting depth to pull it off. Anurag Kashyup acts in this film, but if he would have directed this film, it would have been a gem for sure! This movie was right up his alley.
Soha Ali Khan is the one who stands out. She enters the movie half way through and then grabs your attention. She portrays the happy-go lucky, deaf girl with aplomb.
All in all, considering this is a low budget film, with all the limitations, its a brave attempt. But the Director needs to hone his skills before taking such complex stories. It's not all gone WRONG here, but still this Soundtrack is offbeat and mostly Off-track.
